A Compendium of Creeps and Creatures

A Compendium of Creeps and Creatures, is an illustrative zine based in both Lovecraftian and gothic horror, keeping a grim tone as it tells horrific tales of monsters stalking the night, as well as their unfortunate victims. Using a black and white color palette accentuated with gritty textures and stains, the Compendium is made to give the sense of a journal’s collection, weathered by time and collecting these dark fairy tales of what bumps in the night. A Compendium of Creeps and Creatures is definitely one of my favorite illustrative novels I have created, as it allowed me to really delve into creature design and storytelling with minimal actual conversation or text.
